Sun City Center Golf Cart Repair sends a technician to your driveway, garage, or cart garage anywhere in Sun City Center and Kings Point and fixes your cart on-site: battery packs, brakes, tires, chargers, solenoids, and motor or controller faults. A full lead-acid battery pack runs $1,200–$1,800 installed, brake work $75–$400, tires $75–$150 each, and the $50–$100 service call is applied toward your repair. Describe the symptom by phone or form and the tech usually arrives with the likely parts already on the truck.

Sun City Center is one of the original golf-cart cities in America. Del Webb opened the community at the end of 1961 as Florida’s first self-contained retirement community, and more than sixty years later the cart is still how the place actually runs: every public street inside the community is approved for golf carts under Florida law, and residents drive them daily to the grocery store, the bank, the doctor’s office, and HCA Florida South Shore Hospital. Plenty of households here sold the second car and bought a cart instead. That’s exactly why a dead cart is a bigger problem in Sun City Center than almost anywhere else in Florida, and why everything we do is mobile.

What we fix, at your home

Full ranges for everything are on the pricing page. Most shops in this market make you call for a number; we publish ours so you can compare before you book.

Built for how Sun City Center actually uses carts

The cart is transportation here, not a toy. The 2020 census put Sun City Center’s median age at just over 70, and the community was designed from the start so daily life works without a car. Carts run the length of North and South Pebble Beach Boulevard, cross SR 674 (Sun City Center Boulevard) at the four designated crossings, Valley Forge/Kings Boulevard, Trinity Lakes Drive, Pebble Beach Boulevard, and El Rancho, and use the cart paths along 674 to reach the plazas, the hospital, and medical offices. There’s even a designated crossing of US 301 near East Del Webb Boulevard for the Walmart run. When a cart dies here, someone is cut off from groceries, prescriptions, club meetings, and tee times all at once. Same-day mobile service isn’t a luxury in this community; it’s the whole point.

Daylight rules, real streets, real wear. Sun City Center allows carts on its streets from sunrise to sunset only, even carts with lights, so the daily window gets used hard, year-round. There’s no off-season here the way there is up north: carts run errands in January and August alike, which means battery packs cycle more, brake shoes wear thinner, and tires square off faster than the brochure schedule assumes. We wrote up the honest wear-and-cost math in why Sun City Center carts wear out faster.

Kings Point runs on carts too. Behind the gates off Kings Boulevard, Kings Point’s roughly 5,300 villas and condos generate as much cart traffic as the open side of the community: to the two clubhouses, the pools, and out through the gate for shopping trips. We schedule gated visits so access is painless, and we service the newer Minto-built neighborhoods (Somerset, Nottingham, Oakley Green) the same as the original sections.

Hurricane season changes the job. From June through November, a golf cart in South Hillsborough is also a contingency plan, and a liability if it’s neglected. A healthy, fully charged pack before a storm matters because charging may not be possible for days afterward; a failing charger left running unattended during outage-and-restore power flickers is a genuine hazard. Ahead of forecast weather we prioritize charger and battery calls, and after storms comes the other side: carts that sat through an outage on a dead pack, and packs that took a surge when power came back.

The 20-mph line: golf cart or LSV?

Florida draws a hard legal line at 20 mph. A golf cart tops out at 20 mph and runs on designated streets, which in Sun City Center means all of them, daylight only, with drivers under 18 required to hold at least a learner’s permit and drivers 18-plus required to carry photo ID. Anything capable of more than 20 mph, up to 25 mph, is a low-speed vehicle (LSV): titled, plated, insured with PIP and property-damage liability, driven by a licensed driver, and allowed on roads posted 35 mph or less. Plenty of Sun City Center owners aren’t sure which one is sitting in their cart garage, and the answer changes both the rules and the maintenance stakes, because brakes, lights, and signals on an LSV are required equipment on a registered motor vehicle, not accessories. Our plain-English guide covers it: golf cart vs LSV in Sun City Center.

How a mobile visit works

  1. Tell us the symptom. Won’t move, clicks but no go, won’t charge, sags on the way home, squeals when braking. A good description usually narrows the fault before we arrive, so the right parts ride along.
  2. We come to you. Driveway, garage, or cart garage at a scheduled window: anywhere in Sun City Center and Kings Point, plus Ruskin, Apollo Beach, Wimauma, and Riverview. The $50–$100 trip fee includes the diagnostic and is applied to the repair.
  3. We diagnose before we recommend. A load test on each battery, voltage checks across the pack, a charger output test, and solenoid and controller checks isolate whether the problem is batteries, charger, wiring, or drive system, before anyone talks about a four-figure battery pack.
  4. Flat quote on the spot, fix on the spot. Battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires are usually on the truck. Approve the number and most jobs finish in that same visit.
  5. Finish clean. Flooded lead-acid packs get watered to the correct level and terminals cleaned and protected against Florida humidity, hardware gets a torque check, the cart gets a test drive, and old batteries leave with us for lead-core recycling.

That last step matters more here than owners expect. Most Sun City Center carts still run flooded lead-acid packs (six 6-volt batteries on a 36V cart, six 8-volts or four 12-volts on a 48V cart, Trojan T-105s and T-875s being the classic fitments) and in Florida heat those cells lose water fast. Low electrolyte exposes the plates, the plates sulfate, and capacity is gone for good. A watering schedule, clean terminals, and an occasional specific-gravity check with a hydrometer are the difference between a four-year pack and a six-year pack.

Straight answers, published prices

Two commitments. First, honesty about what we are: an independent mobile service, not an authorized dealer or warranty center for Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, or Evolution, if your cart is under factory warranty, your selling dealer should handle warranty work. Second, honesty about what you need: a cart that won’t charge gets a charger and receptacle test before anyone quotes a battery pack, and if a repair doesn’t make sense against the value of an aging cart, we’ll say so. The work itself is done by independent local technicians. More on how we operate is on the about page, and the FAQ answers the most common questions around the community.

If you searched “golf cart repair near me” from Sun City Center with a cart that won’t leave the garage, this is the call. You’ll get a flat number and a scheduling window fast, with same-day or next-day service across Sun City Center, Kings Point, and the whole South Shore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you come to my house in Sun City Center or Kings Point?

Yes. That's the entire service. A technician comes to your driveway, garage, or cart garage anywhere in Sun City Center or Kings Point, diagnoses the problem on-site, and fixes it in the same visit whenever the parts are on the truck. Gated Kings Point visits are scheduled so guest access at the gate is simple.

How much does golf cart battery replacement cost in Sun City Center?

A full lead-acid pack installed typically runs $1,200–$1,800 depending on voltage and brand, including haul-away of the old cores. Lithium conversions run $1,600–$3,500 installed. Exact price depends on your cart model and pack voltage, free quote by phone or photo.

What does the service call cost?

The trip fee is $50–$100 depending on where you are in the service area, and it includes the on-site diagnostic. Approve the repair and the fee is applied toward the work, so if we do the job, the diagnosis effectively costs nothing.

My cart clicks but won't move. What is that?

Most often the solenoid, the heavy-duty relay that connects the battery pack to the controller. A click with no movement can also point to the controller, the throttle input, or a bad cable, which is why we test before replacing anything. Solenoid replacement runs about $100–$250 installed and is usually a same-visit fix.

Are you an authorized Club Car, E-Z-GO, or Yamaha dealer?

No, and we say so plainly. We're an independent mobile repair service that works on all major brands: Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, and Evolution. For in-warranty factory work, your selling dealer is the right call. For everything out of warranty, we come to you.

Which areas do you cover?

All of Sun City Center and Kings Point, plus Ruskin, Apollo Beach, Wimauma, including Valencia Lakes and Southshore Bay, and Riverview. If you're anywhere in the South Shore corridor of Hillsborough County, you're on our map.

Can you fix my cart before a storm comes in?

We prioritize calls ahead of forecast weather because a working, fully charged cart matters most exactly when the power might go out. If a hurricane watch is up, tell us, charger and battery problems jump the queue.
